Tree Trunk Protectors

When there is no other vehicle, a tree can be your winch anchor. A tree trunk protector is a wide polyester webbing strap that goes around the base of the trunk, spreading the load so a winch line does not ring-bark the tree.

What we stock

Wild Dog 4x4 tree trunk protectors in 3m, 5m and 10m. The 3m version uses 90mm wide polyester webbing with a 10,000kg breaking load.

Using one

Wrap the protector low around a well-rooted trunk, bring both eyes together and join them with a bow shackle, which becomes your anchor point for the winch line. If the anchor is out of reach, add a winch extension strap. Never use a kinetic rope against a tree anchor.
